The Homeless Christmas Challenge is here!

11/5/2018

We are the Armor of Light Ministry!

We serve the poor and the homeless. Most of the people we serve are unable to get into shelters. We seek them out in abandoned structures, alleyways - wherever they may be.

This challenge is being done with Pontiac, Detroit, and Flint!  Who can hit $300 in gifts first?

All proceeds for each city will go to serve the homeless in that city, but the city that reaches their goal first will have their donations matched - turning the $300 goal into $600 to serve twice as many people! $600 can serve as many as 300 people!

We're always on duty, but the lifesaving food and warmth from YOUR generous gifts will hit the streets starting Saturday December 22nd and going through the 24th (Christmas Eve).

Click below, scroll to the bottom, and give cheerfully!  Then share with your friends in Pontiac, Detroit, or Flint!

Show of Love, and Force 2018 - Versus the Westboro Baptist Church

Protesting with hundreds of others at Grand Blanc High School, October 5th 2018.  We strongly oppose the messages of HATE from the Westboro Baptist Church.  We will counter them and deliver to them the TRUTH any time we get a chance.  A Christian is not to hate sinners.  We are to hate Sin, and Love the Sinner.  To love our neighbor as ourselves.

Press Release - Tax Exempt Charitable Organization

(19 October, 2017 – Pontiac, Michigan)
The Armor of Light Ministry, an urban street ministry that primarily serves Pontiac, Detroit, and Flint, is pleased to announce their new status as a tax-exempt religious organization geared towards the stabilization and revitalization of at-risk communities.
The Ministry, responsible for feeding and clothing approximately 1,000 homeless individuals each year, has also embarked on relief missions in Lansing, Grand Rapids, and Chicago, Illinois, and they have an ongoing satellite mission headed by another pastor in Clarksville, Tennessee.
The Ministry organizes neighborhood watch groups, searches-for and feeds the homeless, provides assistance to local homeless shelters and churches, provides counseling and assistance for homeless veterans and poor, law-involved citizens, and wages an ongoing campaign that is aimed at restoring the Value of Life in the inner city of some of the most dangerous and destitute communities in the country.  The pastor of the satellite location in Tennessee also provides wedding services for those that wouldn’t usually seek a traditional Christian marriage (or cannot afford one) with an ordained, “blue collar” Christian pastor.
In January of 2017 the Armor of Light Ministry started developing a campaign called “Deploy to Detroit”; a plan that aims to bring in courageous missionaries from the suburbs to help endow, rebuild, and show Christ’s love “For the Least of Us, Our Brethren”.
The members of the Armor of Light Ministry are dedicated to the premise that all people from all walks of life have a God-given Purpose to help others and that we are all given gifts that are to be used to serve Jesus by serving his children.

****************

The Armor of Light Ministry is a 501 (c3) non-profit organization based out of Pontiac, Michigan.  Started in Flint’s Genesee County Jail in 2012 by a suspected vigilante-turned-felon who was facing gun and assault charges, the Ministry has gone from counseling and advocating for inmates to being a beacon of hope in the homeless and economically disadvantaged communities that they serve.
The members of the Armor of Light Ministry come from diverse backgrounds that include abuse, dependency, criminal involvement, and disability.  They overcome the challenges of the past to become protectors - like shepherds or sheep dogs.  They consider themselves “on-call”, like the cavalry.  They prove that you don’t have to be perfect to serve our Lord Jesus, the Friend of sinners.  Most importantly, they consider themselves to be a part of the greatest solution ever for changing the paradigm of hate in our communities – the one thing we’ve never done to fight crime: to love the hell out of people.

“And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Matthew 25:40
