The "Least of Us" Campaign
Homelessness. Helplessness. Chronic, seasonal.... as the result of terrible choices or horrible circumstances. To many people, even Christians, they are seen as "getting what they deserve". Eyesores. Addicts. Vermin. One handout away from their next fix.
We believe that all people, from all walks of life, deserve to be shown God's Love. Even those that have made a series of bad decisions or been raised in the proverbial School of Hard Knocks.
We believe we can foster an appreciation for Life that not only helps the victims, but one that changes the paradigm for those that are inclined to commit crime.
We need to separate ourselves from the way the world drags us down, and we need to come together under one Light. The ways in which we are all the same is so much more important than our differences.
Some of our goals for 2019-2020 will be the purchase of another 20 dozen high quality socks, specially modified running strollers to help lessen the burden of those who are trying to cling onto (and transport) their few sole possessions, First aid and CPR training for many of the poor families in our community, an "After School Buddy" program where older kids provide a safe walk home and a good friend to the younger kids in the neighborhood, and monthly outreach events in our operating areas that include Detroit, Pontiac, Flint, and Grand Rapids.
We have done a lot in the past year, serving people in Detroit, Pontiac, Flint, Grand Rapids, Dayton, Ohio, and Chicago, Illinois. We want to take things to the next level! That will include weekly Worship and Action meetings in Pontiac, Michigan, fellowship with our missionaries in other states (which include Ohio, Tennessee, and Illinois at the moment), hand-out ride-a-longs for dynamic local missionaries, and our ongoing effort to make Giving and Loving something that people aspire to do with their free time.
So far, we know this for certain: We have saved at least one life, changed at least one life, and served hundreds with warmth, nutrition, comfort, and a glimmer of hope. We need your help so we can make a change for all to see in Jesus' name.
We're always on duty, but the lifesaving food and warmth from YOUR generous gifts will hit the streets starting Saturday December 22nd and going through the 24th (Christmas Eve).
